Here at Dental Excellence we believe that prevention is vitally important. Setting up good oral hygiene habits when we’re young is a big part of this as is having a positive “experience” at the dentist .
Children in New Zealand are entitled to free basic oral health services from birth to 17 years of age (until their 18th birthday). In the early years this free service is provided by Dental Therapists in community based clinics or via the mobile dental units that visit schools.*
When your child/adolescent goes to high school in year 9 that dental treatment can be provided for free here at Dental Excellence.
Dental Excellence has a contract with our local District Health Board to provide services for year 9 students through to their 18th birthday.
*We treat many preschoolers and primary school age children of our existing patients. It’s perfectly fine for parents to elect for their children to see us rather than undertake treatment at the community based clinics. However, this treatment does incur a private fee.
